In the late 1970’s-1980’s the Artist was honing his drawing skills using the medium of indian ink. On a short visit to Kenya, visiting friends, he encountered the Maasai people . He was at once bewitched by their ebony skin tones and proud stature. His curiosity and enchantment for this Race was reciprocated. The Artist was priviliged to spend time among this tribe and from this came a series of beautifully crafted drawings, portraying this race in their everyday life. Some of these drawings are retained in the Cockburn Gallery and hung for viewing and sale at different times throughout the year.
